Property and Interior Photography
Shooting Property & Interiors
The essence of good Property and Interior Photography is not showing what a room looks like, it is capturing what it feels like. There is a lot to think about when shooting a space; what is the most attractive angle? How do I capture the light? Is there a view through the window that can be shown off?
Anyone with a camera can shoot a room and show the fixtures and fittings, how big the room is and where the windows are. It takes a professional to give the viewer a sense of what it would be like to exist in that space.
I combine off-camera flash and ambient light exposures to create the perfect blend of fill lighting and atmosphere. Just using the flash can lead to a cold and unrealistic image, blending in an ambient exposure brings back the natural shadows and shades of colour that flash can remove.
Maintaining a well lit interior, whilst showing off what is through the window is also worthy of consideration.
Some of my property clients include Hamptons International, Lewes Estates, Phillips and Stubbs and Winkworths.
Of course, the owner knows the property best. Some of my best pictures have come at the suggestion of the client. Fostering good relationships is essential in Property Photography, as is a punctual, considerate and a professional service.
“Neil photographed our Grade 2 listed cottage ready for marketing on Rightmove. Having initially used the estate agents pictures we were concerned at how many people mentioned that in the estate agents pictures, the house didn’t actually look like the house! To be fair to the estate, getting the lighting right in a cottage is challenging. So this is when we got Neil in! He used the natural light perfectly to achieve photos that represented our home in a far more appealing way! The photos even managed to reflect the “feel of the house” The result was a 75 % increase in the number of viewings we got through the door and three weeks later we are under offer! Can’t recommend this service highly enough! Nice chap, speedy turn around of the pictures, and excellent outcome.” Lara Bashford
“The benefits of using high quality images for marketing purposes are self evident. What sets one photographer apart from another is the ability to capture both the mood of the interior and the context of the building, which is why I work with Neil where I can.” Martyn Stubbs, Owner, Phillips & Stubbs, Rye
“The pictures are absolutely beautiful – Neil is clearly a very talented man. Thank you for taking so much time and care both with the shoot and the processing.”Jon Sharpe, Interior Designer, Brighton
